Edmonton Charities To Support This Holiday Season

While the holiday season is a time for making memories and celebrating with loved ones, it’s also a time for helping people in need. Volunteering or donating (if you’re able) to an organization close to your heart can spread some much-needed cheer to those struggling. 💚

EDMONTON FOOD BANK

This holiday season, food banks are being stretched to their limits — just as families need them more than ever. Edmonton’s Food Bank provides festive food staples during the holiday season and helps people with food hampers that consist of fresh and packaged food throughout the year.

They are grateful to their generous donors who contribute the gift of food, money and their time to help people in need in our Edmonton community.

THE MUSTARD SEED

The Mustard Seed is a non-profit organization caring for men, women and children experiencing extreme poverty and homelessness since 1984. With Christmas coming up, more of our neighbours than ever are relying on us for a warm meal, companionship, and a safe place to sleep off the cold streets.

Donations to The Mustard Seed provide a supportive haven where they support the person by delivering essential services, housing, wellness services and employment programs, and partner with the community to address the root causes of poverty.

THE HOLIDAY HAMPER

The Holiday Hamper Program makes a difference in the lives of Edmonton families in need. Participants can become Hamper Elves by adopting a local family – then shopping for a healthy festive meal and small gifts for the kids.

On Delivery Day, Hamper Elves come to the Expo Centre to receive turkeys, fresh produce, and their adopted family’s address from our team of volunteers. Then they are off to deliver joy to families in need in our community! There are also other ways to donate to this great cause.

CHRISTMAS BUREAU OF EDMONTON

Since 1940, the Christmas Bureau has maintained one tradition – providing a festive meal and coordination of Christmas giving to Edmontonians in need at Christmas time through the promotion of the spirit of Christmas caring and sharing in the City of Edmonton.

Operational all year long, it takes their team 10 months to plan, coordinate, and execute food service deliveries to over 60,000 people during the holiday season. No easy task considering the need for their services has almost tripled in 2022. From their dedicated volunteers, community partners, and donors, it took (takes) an entire community to help a community. There are many ways to support the Christmas Bureau!
